Diamondbacks Top Eleven Prospects

by @ 4:28 pm. Filed under 2011 Diamondbacks

This is a little old, but Kevin Goldstein put out the Diamondbacks Top Eleven Prospect list.  The more sabermetric friendly list that I like, Goldstein doesn’t say too much good about the system although there are some nice parts.  Topping the list is Jarrod Parker and he’s the only five star list.  It’s not good when your top prospect was drafted in 2007 but he didn’t play at all in 2010 because of Tommy John surgery.  He’s got the upside and Goldstein thinks he’ll be in a D-backs uniform in 2012 but that injury is a big deal.

Number two is the only four star prospect and that’s Tyler Skaggs.  The left hander came over from the Angels in the Dan Harden trade and while he’s a youngster at 19, he put together a solid season at Low-A.

Number three is Chris Owings, the top position player.  Owings is also a ways away but he also had a nice season at Low-A.  His projected debut is way out in 2014 so he should be on this list for a couple of years.  Bobby Borchering (3b, also played Low-A in 2010) and Matt Davidson (also a 3b, a step ahead of Borchering). round out the top five.
