A little over a week after the Pirates designated Zach Duke for assignment, the Diamondbacks picked him up in a deal for a player to be named later. Duke had a rough 2010 (8-15, 5.72 ERA) but here’s to hoping the one time top prospect can turn things around with a change of scenery.
After an impressive debut season way back in 2005, Duke has been mediocre at best in most of his seasons. He was the Pirates All Star representative last year despite the 4.06 ERA and the league leading 16 losses. Duke’s strikeout rate isn’t anything to write home about so while the Diamondbacks didn’t give up much, I’m not holding my breath on this one.
