Diamondback’s outfield prospect Carlos Gonzalez struggled when he got promoted to Double A in 2006 but if he lost anything because of it, he probably made it all back up here with a solid performance in the Venezuela Winter League. Gonzalez hit .318 and he led the league with a .530 slugging. It’ll be fun to see what this guy can do when he goes back to Double A in 2007.
Hello, my name is Ken Peters and I’ll be covering the Arizona Diamondbacks for the Baseball Historians network of websites. While 2007 will only be the tenth season the Diamondbacks have been in existance, it’s been an interesting run. You have the 100 win season and 35 game turnaround in 1999 (only the second season the team existed) and then the World Series win in 2001. Then just three years later, the team loses 111 games and they now have three straight losing seasons.
So I’ll be covering the present day Diamondbacks as well as taking a look at the team’s brief past. With the return of Randy Johnson, I’m going to take a quick look at some of his awesome season in a Diamondbacks uniform, as well as take a look at the team that started the franchise out. If I favor Conor Jackson in my writing, it’s because he’s my favorite player.
I think the Dodgers might be the team to beat in the NL West but if the Unit can come back for one last hurrah, the Diamondbacks might be able to give the rest of the NL West a run. I hope you’ll stop by on occasion to check out the details with me.
